Ban the Trawlers and Seiners from our inshore fishery around NZ

The National Government promised Recreational Fishing Only reserves in the Hauraki Gulf and Marlborough Sounds and nothing has happened.

Recently a commercial seiner admitted the ‘accidental discharge’ of huge quantities of small fish whilst fishing on the West Coast of Manukau. Dave Turner, Director Fisheries MPI has sanctioned this discard and dumping as accidental. We must stop this wastage of fish.

This practice of ‘accidental loss’ is a regular occurrence and must be stopped. In order to facilitate this
we ask you to sign this petition so we can force the trawlers and seiners out past the 12 nautical mile mark, force Dave turner to resign and start an ‘Official Enquiry’ into the methods these seiners use.
