Ban Hare Coursing Cruelty in Ireland!

The unnecessary, brutal blood sport of hare coursing is still protected under Ireland's 1976 Wildlife Act. Hare coursing involves trapping hares in nets, herding them together in an enclosure for weeks of "training," then releasing dogs after them to chase them through a field.

Hares are often killed or injured in the trapping process. The training period is also stressful for them, as they are solitary and don't like being in close confinement with other hares. In open coursing, dogs don't have to wear a muzzle and often tear the hares apart after catching them. Even with a muzzle, dogs often kill the hares by mauling them or tossing them into the air. This video demonstrates the cruelty involved in hare coursing.

Hare coursing is for entertainment purposes only, and serves no necessary purpose. Please sign the petition to ban hare coursing in Ireland.

To: Enda Kenny, TD

We, the undersigned, are concerned that the unnecessary, brutal blood sport of hare coursing is still protected under Ireland's 1976 Wildlife Act. As you know, hare coursing involves trapping hares in nets, herding them together in an enclosure for weeks of "training," then releasing dogs after them to chase them through a field.

Hare coursing is for entertainment purposes only, and serves no necessary purpose. We respectfully urge you to support a complete ban on hare coursing in Ireland. Thank you for taking the time to read and consider our petition.
