Urge Asheville to Ban Plastic Straws!

The United States alone uses over 500 million straws EVERY DAY. It is estimated in the year 2050 there will be more plastic than fish in our oceans.

As one of the greenest cities in the United States, Asheville, North Carolina has the opportunity to be a leader by banning plastic straws.

Single-use plastics are destroying our planet. Wildlife, such as sea turtles, often confuse straws for food and injure themselves. Plastic straws are too lightweight to be recycled, but there are many different alternatives to plastic straws! Many companies have started using compostable straws or paper straws. 

Let's join together to END the use of plastic straws. Urge Asheville to ban plastic straws!
