Shut Down Europe's Aging, Unsafe Nuclear Power Plants!

A new 146-page report commissioned by Greenpeace states that the ongoing use of nuclear power plants past their expiration date, plus increasing power demands, are putting Europe at risk for a nuclear accident.

Most nuclear reactors were designed to run for 30 years, but over half of the 151 power plants operating in the European Union, Switzerland and the Ukraine were built over 30 years ago. 25 of them were built over 35 years ago.

Older power plants were built when standards were lower. Nuclear expert Simon Mohr states that older models aren't equipped to deal with flood waters, earthquakes or plane crashes on site. So it's not just a matter of replacing older parts.

Please sign the petition to convince the European Union to prevent nuclear disaster before it's too late and close down older, out-of-date nuclear power plants!

We respectfully urge you to take action to prevent nuclear disaster before it's too late. Please close down older, out-of-date nuclear power plants. Thank you for taking the time to read and consider our petition.
