Demand retention pay for hostile work enviroment

We the employee at the Lake City VA Medical Center department CLC-3 seek retention pay for having to work in a hostile environment. The employees on this unit have been bitten, head butted, kicked, spit on, slapped, fingers broken, scratched, among other injuries while trying to provide care for the veterans on this unit with dementia. We are understaffed and is having to work overtime to cover the unit which put the employees in this hostile environment more than they are expected to work. We feel like we are under compensated for the type of work we do.
