Warning: contains graphic description of physical abuse

John McKellan was supposed to be caring for Bam whilst the dog's owner, McKellan's parter at the time, was at work. But instead of caring for the dog, he subjected Bam to a sustained and vicious attack.

Neighbours described hearing an ordeal that went on for thirty horrible minutes, and which was so violent that thuds and Bam's cries could be heard through the wall.

Luckily, the dog's owner was informed and she sent her mum to check on Bam. Her mum found him terrified and visibly hurt, and took him for medical treatment.

Bam the dog was beaten so badly that he was left internally injured, with bruised genitals and abdomen, and urinating blood. RSPCA inspector Wilson said: “He was very subdued and scared, and in lots of pain.''

The vet who examined him said that the air trapped under his skin was usually only seen after extreme trauma like a traffic accident. But Bam's injuries were caused intentionally by John McKellan, who in court admitted to kicking the dog.

McKellan also has a previous conviction for animal abuse.

Incredibly, McKellan was given a short suspended sentence, and only banned from keeping animals for ten years.

Please sign this petition to demand that John McKellan be banned from keeping animals for life.
Teeside Prosecution Services:

John McKellan has been found guilty of animal abuse on more than one occassion. This abuse includes the extremely violent beating and kicking of a pet dog in a sustained attack that lasted half an hour.

A ten-year ban on keeping animals is not long enough. McKellan should be banned from keeping animals for life.
