North Carolina, Don't Outlaw Programs that Cut Congestion and Encourage Carpooling!

A program adopted by Durham County has cut traveled car miles by 20%. So why is North Carolina trying to make it illegal?

North Carolina might pass a bill that would prohibit laws from being passed that help serve the environment, like the one that has led to the creation of Durham County's Commute Trip Reduction Ordinance. This ordinance has requirements that encourage carpooling and allow for the effective reduction of car trips made by employees and staff.

If this bill passes, this ordinance and others like it will be made illegal. The main objection to the ordinance is to the possibility of fines for businesses that don't meet certain requirements. But as of now, no businesses have ever been fined.

Please tell North Carolina not to outlaw programs that help reduce pollution and help the environment!

Dear North Carolina Government,

A bill might be passed in North Carolina that would cut programs that are beneficial to the environment and even make them illegal.

One such program is Durham County's Commute Trip Reduction Ordinance. This has helped to cut traveled car miles by 20% through employers encouraging carpooling and making efforts to reduce car trips.

One objection is to the possibility of businesses getting fined. However, no businesses have even been fined as of now.

Please don't outlaw these programs that help make the environment safer for all. Thank you for your time.
