Don't trash the Grand Canyon with uranium mining

Would you put a landfill inside the Smithsonian? Would you allow skateboarders at the Lincoln Memorial? Probably not.

And yet the US Congress is seriously considering an act just as sacrilegious: uranium mining and industrial development right next to the Grand Canyon. H.R. 3155 is a bill that would allow mining and development on acres of land bordering the Grand Canyon, land currently under federal protections.

Make no mistake. H.R. 3155 is a dangerous and profoundly immoral proposal which would result in contamination of the canyon waterways along with utility roads, power lines, and industrial construction nearby. Tell the US Congress to strike down this bill and protect the Grand Canyon!
We the undersigned beg you not to pass HR 3155 which would allow uranium mining and industrial development on public lands RIGHT NEXT DOOR to the Grand Canyon. The federal protections currently in place on these lands are there for a good reason. Mining and development would threaten the water quality of canyon streams as well as introduce ugly power lines and utility roads into this pristine, iconic world wonder. Say no to HR 3155!
