EPA: Cleanup Environmental Disaster Near Navajo Nation Now!

What was supposed to be a mine cleanup has turned into an environmental disaster thanks to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The agency's negligence unleashed 3 million gallons of yellow-orange, toxic waste near the river-based and agricultural Navajo Nation.

The health and livelihoods of the Navajo people are under threat. The community is also in spiritual, mental and emotional mourning over the water's contamination.

Instead of focusing on the cleanup, EPA officials are busy doing something else: protecting their pocketbooks and cheating the Navajo people. As reported in The Washington Times, Navajo President Russell Begaye explained that EPA officials are busy getting Navajo residents "to sign a form that offers to pay damages incurred so far from the spill, but waiving the right to come back and ask for more if their costs escalate or if they discover bigger problems." Even though the agency already admitted that cleanup will take decades, how can it want an estimate of damages now?

Please sign and share this petition demanding that the EPA focus on cleaning up the 3 million gallons of toxic waste, instead of cleaning up its legal and money issues. The lives and livelihoods of at least 750 families depend on it now.
