Stop the Trump Administration's Threat to Public Land Protections

It was our first major legislative victory of the Trump Administration: Preserving crucial limits on the amount of dangerous climate pollution spewing from oil & gas operations across our public and tribal lands. Now that we've beaten them in both Congress and the courts, the Trump Administration launched a fresh attack on these critical protections.

Secretary Zinke of the Department of Interior is acting at the explicit behest of the industry's most powerful lobbying groups, and working to roll back these rules from within the Bureau of Land Management. Revoking these protections benefits the worst actors in the oil & gas industry, at the expense of everyday American taxpayers.

Take action today, and tell the Trump Administration: Stop defending polluters at the expense of the health of American families and their communities.

Please keep BLM's methane protections firmly in place.

Dear Secretary Zinke,

I am writing today in strong opposition to any attempts to delay, weaken, or revoke the Bureau of Land Management's crucial methane waste protections.

Doing so defends the worst actors of the oil & gas industry, and puts their interests above the health and safety of American families and their communities, all while wasting taxpayer dollars. Since 2013, more than $1.7 billion worth of natural gas has been squandered on public and tribal lands.

The best in the business have made it clear that this problem can be fixed using available, low-cost technologies. We don't need to look any further than states like Colorado and Wyoming to see that protections that leverage these commonsense technologies can be extremely successful.

I stand with the more than two-thirds of American voters who want to keep these protections strong and in place.

Sincerely,
[Your name]
