Pigs Need Your Help: Urge Primo to accurately label pork products

Pigs are among the most intensively farmed animals on the planet. Globally, three out of four mother pigs are raised in barren factory farms where they are confined to steel cages no bigger than a fridge for most of their pregnancy.

Australian farms are phasing out these cruel sow stalls in response to consumer demand. But the majority of processed pork sold in our supermarkets contains pork that is imported. And many of these overseas producers don't meet Australian animal welfare standards.

Primo – the biggest producer of processed pork products in Australia – isn't sharing information about where the pigs were raised. Coles is transparent with its customers. Primo must match this.

World Animal Protection is calling on Primo to voluntarily include country of origin information on their labels. Australian consumers who choose to buy these products deserve to know whether the pork came from countries that use sow stalls.

Your signature can help improve the lives of pigs. Urge Primo to include country of origin on their pork product labels.

Update #1vor 5 Jahren
Your signature was among that of 15,000 Australians who called on Primo to raise pigs right. The good news is Primo has offered to update their ham and bacon labelling so you know where the pig was raised. Primo's new labels will be rolled out from 1 January 2019. On behalf of pigs, thank you!
