Oregon Needs Clean Energy, Justice, and Jobs!

Clean energy is the fastest-growing industry in America and provides a huge opportunity for high-quality, union jobs that help rebuild the middle class across the US and right here in Oregon.

The Biden administration's plan is an investment in America. The package will invest in creating more good paying union jobs advancing clean energy production by extending and expanding tax credits for clean energy generation, carbon capture and sequestration and clean energy manufacturing.

Now is the time to take action to get millions of people back to work in new good-paying jobs in the clean energy economy while tackling climate change and environmental racism.

Thankfully, Senators Ron Wyden and Jeff Merkley are both champions for the administration's plan. However, we need them to keep the pressure on colleagues and push for a package that centers clean energy, justice and jobs by including:

CLEAN ENERGY: Put the U.S. on the path to 100% clean energy powering our electricity grid, the transportation sector and our buildings (homes, businesses, schools, etc).

JUSTICE: Prioritize the just and equitable solutions that the communities most harmed by toxic pollution — low-income and communities of color — are leading, and ensure that at least 40% of benefits go to the communities who need it most.

JOBS: Support the preservation and creation of high-quality, good-paying union jobs across the economy, like builders, roofers, pipe fitters, engineers, electricians, accountants, researchers, teachers and more.

The vast majority of people — from both sides of the aisle — want bold climate action and strongly support Biden's plan to invest in clean energy infrastructure. Now is the time to meet the scale of the crises we face with the big investments needed to truly build back better with justice and equity.

Take action today and thank Senators Wyden and Merkley for their efforts and urge them to push for a plan that centers clean energy, justice and jobs for Oregonians.
