Tell Governor Newsom: Save unweaned kittens who are the MOST at risk of being killed

It's a stunning fact: Unweaned, newborn kittens make up between 20-40% of the population of most animal shelters and are the animals most likely to be killed. Most animal shelters do their best but simply do not have the necessary funding and support to care for unweaned kittens who need around the clock bottle-feeding and constant care. If they cannot immediately be placed in a foster home where they could be bottle-fed, in most cases, the kittens are put to sleep.

There is a better way. Stray Cat Alliance is doing vital work for these kittens. Our innovative Safe at Home program works directly with shelters and community members to provide support for fosters to bottle-feed unweaned kittens until they make it through the bottle-feeding phase and embark on the long, healthy lives they deserve.

These kittens deserve life. And our shelters deserve the support they need to help every animal that comes through its doors.

Please, sign our petition today to ask Governor Newsom for more support for overcrowded shelters, so that more kittens can survive and thrive.
To Governor Newsom:

Our state's animal shelters are dramatically under-resourced. This leads to devastating consequences for the unweaned, newborn kittens that make up between 20-40% of the population of most animal shelters – the animals who are the most at risk of being killed.

I'm writing today to ask you to prioritize resources for fostering and caring for unweaned kittens in order to save their lives.

These kittens deserve life. And our shelters deserve the support they need to help every animal that comes through their doors. Please prioritize resourcing these shelters to protect the lives of the youngest, most vulnerable kittens.

Sincerely,
