Free the Falls! Libérer les chutes! Let's get rid of the Chaudiere Dam.

Chaudiere Falls in Canada's capital was once second only to Niagara Falls in North America. Many considered them more interesting in their variety and setting. However, Ottawa/Gatineau's Kettle was dammed up for sawmills and electric power. Its industrial use has ended. Hydroelectric power can be generated in better ways. The Ring Dam is unnecessary.

We can get back Ottawa's premier and most beloved tourist attraction. Once again, fish will be able to migrate upriver. No longer will American eels be pulverised in turbines. Boating will not be affected.

Let's listen to Grandfather William Commanda's vision. He was given the Key to the City of Ottawa. The key should open something.

Let's restore the natural beauty of Chaudiere Falls for all the world to see once again. We are the only capital city in the world with a major waterfall at its centre. Freeing the Chaudiere Falls would be a matter of national pride when Canada greets its 150th birthday on July 1st, 2017.

Listen to "Reconciliation River" and feel the message of the water.
Reconciliation River came to Vela in a spot she found where she could hear the overflow of the dam that imprisons Chaudière Falls (Akikodjiwan). The message of the song is that we need reconciliation between settlers and indigenous people, and between humans and All Our Relations, the beings we share this planet with.
