Stop Oklahoma Puppy Mills Now
We the people DEMAND a change! Oklahoma is number 2 in the country for animal cruelty, neglect and puppy mills. There is virtually NO legislation regarding this cruel practice here. The AKC is the biggest opponent to "The Pet Quality Assurance Act" because the AKC has joined forced with HUNT who is the biggest puppy broker in the United States. The AKC believes that a dog can spend its entire life in a cage its length plus 6 inches on any side. The reason why Oklahoma is such a battleground when it comes to puppy mills is because it is one of the only states with NO regulation. With approximately 800 homeless animals dying every hour in the USA why do we need to breed more for profit? Please adopt or foster, if we dont buy as many "AKC" puppies we can make a difference. By signing this petition you are standing up for animal welfare and saying NO to puppy mills. Reputable breeders are being put out of business by this gross practice so this is something that affects all levels of life. After a dog is no longer able to be bred they are generally shot or just left to die. These dogs have no human socialization, no names, no vet care, most will never feel anything but the chicken wire in the bottom of their cages and pain.
We the people DEMAND a change! This petition is to show how serious we are about getting some regulation on the grotesque practice of overbreeding and slaughtering of millions of innocent lives. We support tougher laws and we are NOT going to let this go until something is done. It is an embarrassment that Oklahomans have to live with the reputation of being number 2 in the United States of America as being animal abusers and puppy mill farmers. This petition is signed by people everywhere in hopes that someone will take notice and ACT. We are speaking for those who cannot speak for themselves.
