Declawing cats is a cruel practice that amputates a cat%u2019s toes at their first joint severing bones and tendons. Healthy cats become cripples and many suffer pain the rest of their lives. There are a number of alternatives to keep cats from scratching furniture or their people. Declawed cats are likely to develop behavior problems such as biting and litter box avoidance and are at risk of being dumped at shelters and euthanized. San Francisco Board of Supervisors is considering legislation to ban this practice in San Francisco, except when the health of the cat is involved. Please show the Supervisors that you support a ban on declawing in San Francisco
