MALABAR CAUSEWAY

  • by: Kenneth Moye

Palm Bay is one of the fastest, and largest growing communities in Brevard County, and the state of Florida with a population of  106,470 residents, and continuing to grow.  Malabar Road (SR-514) is a direct link that extends from Palm Bay eastward to Interstate 95 and  also  Highway US1, which would make this a great  point to connect and extend two miles across the Indian River and join A1A, and the barrier island.  The closest causeway Melbourne Causeway  (SR-500) which is located 5.81 miles to the north of Malabar Road, and Wabasso Causeway  (CR-510)  which is located 25.6 miles to the south of  Malabar Road. This causeway would not only be essential to the residents of Palm Bay, and the nearby town of Malabar (east of Palm Bay) to reach the beach, but this causeway would also be an essential emergency evacuation route for residents who live in the barrier islands of Brevard county.  A1A is a two lane highway that extends north and south from the town of Indialantic to Sebastian inlet, and into Indian River county.  With the population also growing in the beach side communities, and in the event of an emergency, A1A would be a gridlock of residents who live in the coastal communities needing to evacuate. That is why this much needed causeway would be so essential for so many people.
