As a brass student of the Schulich School of Music, I was taken aback when I found out that there are no studio classes for performance students and education majors. For every other instrument at Schulich, there is a studio class which helps students learn, critique, and grow as performers. All of these things are necessary for all musicians. As performers, it does not make sense why we would not be given this weekly performance opportunity. As educators, it does not make sense why they would not be given a weekly teaching opportunity, as part of studio class is listening and then giving constructive criticism. This petition is for the need of studio class for all brass students.
