Please sign to say "I will not vote for any member of the current Teaneck town council in the next election!"
Take a stand against the town council for overspending, rubberstamping higher school budgets, and refusing to lower taxes. (For instance, the town just approved a bond to repair the Votee soccer fields to the tune of $4.2 million!) When the council members run for office, they promise "fiscal responsibility," but apparently that means to them that they will not lower taxes and will continue to spend money we don't have.
They are not going to take us seriously until we withhold our votes from them!
Furthermore, most recently the council also passed a resolution in support of the state proposals to ban many rifles, shotguns, and handguns, and to greatly restrict our right to self-defense. It is bad enough that most of us in Teaneck have to work long hours to pay for taxes and the high cost of living. Now we have to worry that the council is going to try to undercut our fundamental freedoms while we're busy trying to make a living and raise our children.
Hopefully, we will be able to cast our votes for fiscally serious candidates this fall. But if not, let us at least stop supporting the council members who are so casually spending our money and restricting our fundamental freedoms.
