Help Keep Miami Beach Lifeguard Towers Opened.
The Giankarlo Squicimari Foundation's main mission is to promote the use of lifeguard protected beaches only, and to continue to fight for more lifeguards in our beaches. Please support and join us by signing this petition that will be presented to the City of Miami Beach requesting them to reconsider their budget recommendation for year 2010 which proposes cut backs on essential public safety services provided by the Department of Miami Beach Ocean Rescue. They are proposing to eliminate the D/C of Ocean Rescue, the closing of 3 Lifeguard Towers and reducing the hours of operations for the Lifeguards. These cutbacks will create a public safety challenge and will put the lives of tourists and local beach patrons at very high risk. The purpose of this letter is to express our concern over the proposed budget cuts scheduled for the year 2010 on the services provided by the Department of Ocean Rescue and to request that you reconsider those cuts based on the potential impact that such changes will have in the safeguarding and protection of our beach patrons. These cutbacks will put the lives of the tourists and residents that visit our beaches at high risk.
