Death with Dignity for Gioia
Hello,
My name is Gioia. I am seeking the right to die with dignity after being the victim of multiple harms caused by 911 responders. I have reached out to international authorities, including the Government of the Netherlands, to explore euthanasia options since these protections are not available to me in my home country.
This petition is about advocating for:
-Expanded death with dignity laws
-Access to euthanasia for non-terminal conditions like PTSD and prolonged psychological suffering
-Recognition of the harm sometimes caused by first responders, and the right to pursue compassionate alternatives when life becomes unbearable
Please sign this petition to support the expansion of death with dignity laws to people like me, who are seeking peace and self-determination in the wake of irreversible harm.
Thank you for your support.

The following is an email exchange between Gioia and the Government of the Netherlands:
Good afternoon,
Thank you for your e-mail. You write that you suffer from PTSD, and you are looking for a country that can assist you with dying with dignity.
I am sorry to read your reason for contacting us. In the Netherlands, euthanasia, death with dignity or assisted suicide is allowed if preformed by a physician. The physician can also perform this procedure for people not living in the Netherlands. However, they must be convinced that the due care criteria of the Termination of Life on Request and Assisted Suicide Act are met.
For this, the physician has to have sufficient knowledge concerning the patient's medical history to be able to assess whether the patient's suffering is unbearable and without prospect of improvement. This means that the procedure can be more difficult for people without a long medical history in the Netherlands.
You can read more about euthanasia in the Netherlands on the website linked below.

If you want to correspond with someone to see if you meet the criteria for euthanasia, you will need to find a physician in the Netherlands willing to preform euthanasia. They will be able to discuss the possibilities with you. You could start by contacting a general practitioner.
I hope to have informed you sufficiently and that your situation finds an appropriate resolution, whatever that might be.

Dear Okke,
Thank you for your kind and informative response regarding euthanasia procedures in the Netherlands. I appreciate the clarity you provided and the helpful link to the government website.
I understand the requirement that a physician must be sufficiently familiar with the patient's medical history and the challenges this may present for non-residents. I am still in the process of reviewing the details and requirements and will begin looking into how best to contact a physician for consultation.
If I may, I have a few additional questions—some of which are quite personal in nature, and I apologize in advance for any discomfort they may cause. These questions are rooted in deeply held spiritual beliefs, particularly regarding the rebirth of the soul and the standard of brain death. For this reason, I have long envisioned my death occurring by a method such as a shotgun blast to the head. I understand this may sound distressing or graphic, and I share it only to be transparent about the form of death I believe would best fulfill my beliefs. I would like to know if there are any legal, procedural, or ethical considerations in the Netherlands related to the manner of death, and how strictly physician-administered euthanasia must follow the oral route or other specified protocols.
Additionally, I am hoping to understand what options exist for religious or spiritual ceremonies after death, particularly cremation without a wake, as per my wishes. Would it be possible to arrange for such services through the appropriate institutions in the Netherlands? If so, are there specific providers or organizations you would recommend for assistance with planning?
I also have some logistical questions, such as how long a non-citizen must reside in the Netherlands before undergoing the procedure, and whether a temporary visit with proper documentation may suffice. It may sound trivial, but I would like to explore the country briefly beforehand to reflect on my life and say goodbye.
Lastly, I would be traveling with my pets. They are my family, and their well-being is paramount to me. In the past, I buried a beloved animal companion with silver, as I did not wish to strip them—without their ability to tell me—of the possibility of reincarnation. I believe silver can serve as a token for Anubis and may assist in rebirth. My animals deserve paradise, and in this life, they have been denied certain rights that will go unmentioned in this email. I hope that in future lives they may enjoy freedom, pleasure, and love. I would love to spend eternity—all-time—with them, but I understand there are others capable of giving them the affection and care I have always wished to provide. I intend to personally choose the individual or family who will care for them after my passing, to ensure their comfort, stability, and continued love.
Once again, thank you for your time, compassion, and willingness to address these matters. I understand that some of my requests may fall outside typical procedures, but I am grateful for any guidance or referrals you may be able to offer.
With respect and appreciation,
Gioia
