White Supremacists Do Not Belong in Our Military

Vasilios Pistolis is 19 years old and is a Lance Corporal in the U.S. Marines. He is also a Nazi.

The soldier, stationed at North Carolina's Camp Lejeune, took part in one of the most shameful moments of 2017. In photos, he can be seen beating a counter-protester at the Charlottesville "Unite the Right Rally." The rally ended in violence when a fellow racist mowed down a group of men and women with his car, killing one.

After the violence, Pistolis went online and bragged: "Today cracked 3 skulls open with virtually no damage to myself."

According to reports, he is also a member of Atomwaffen Division, an American neo-Nazi group that aims to incite a race war using domestic terrorism. Investigators have identified at least three other Atomwaffen members who are also currently serving in the U.S. Armed Forces.

Are these the types of men and women that we want defending our country? People who hate fellow Americans so much they are willing to commit acts of terrorism to stoke the flames of hatred? How can known Nazis fight for our country when they are actively working to destroy it?

The military was one of the first major American institutions to be integrated. Today minorities make up a whopping 40% of the active duty members. To allow the armed forces to be infiltrated by hate is unacceptable.

Congressman Keith Ellison has written to the Department of Defense (DOD) and demanded that they launch an investigation into Pistolis and other military members currently serving in the armed forces. Additionally, he has requested information as to how the DOD screens for neo-Nazis and other hate groups before they are allowed to join.

Care2 would like to echo Representative Ellison's call for an investigation and urges the U.S. Military to implement measures to ensure that those who wish to deprive us of our freedom are not charged with protecting it.

Please sign the petition and demand that the DOD conduct an immediate investigation to find hate groups within our military.
