Tell the Wyoming legislature to end child marriage!

The Wyoming Republican Party is openly opposing a bill to create a minimum age for marriage, set at 18 years old with exceptions for 16 and 17-year-olds — even though the bill itself is sponsored by a Republican.

They are apparently worried that doing so would keep the children they forced teenagers to bear by banning abortion from having a proper parental unit. In a letter, the GOP said they were "concerned about constitutional rights" and that banning people from marrying children would deny the "the fundamental purpose of marriage."

Tell the Wyoming legislature to raise the minimum age for marriage!

The idea that a girl should be able to marry as soon as she is physically capable of bearing children is absolutely repulsive to everyone who doesn't espouse a wildly creepy and exploitative patriarchal vision of gender relations.

This bill is trying to prevent children from being trapped in abusive marriages by the men who preyed on them and to keep men from being able to dodge statutory rape laws by marrying their victims.

Children should not get married. This should not be a controversial statement.
