GOP Senators: Bring Healthcare Debate into the Light!

Right now, the proposed American healthcare bill is being negotiated behind closed doors in the Senate. The reason Republican Senators are being shady about the details is that they know how unpopular their bill will be. If it's anything like the House's bill (and there are reports that it will be), it will cost ten of millions of Americans their health insurance AND increase rates for most of the rest of Americans.

We must demand that the Senate brings the bill to the Senate floor for public debate!

TrumpCare, sometimes called WealthCare, would make 23 millions people uninsured. It would also cut Medicaid by $800 billion, thus destabilizing the insurance markets. And all this is just so that wealthy Americans and corporations can get billions of dollars in tax breaks. The bill would also end protections for people with pre-existing conditions, defund Planned Parenthood and raise premiums for the rest of us!

This is a truly evil bill and Republican Senators know it, which is why they aren't letting the public know the details. Republicans have even banned journalists from asking them questions in the halls in the capital because they don't want to have to answer for this criminal piece of legislation. ObamaCare was debated in Congress for so long, and Republicans don't even have one single plan to debate this plan.

Sign this petition to demand public hearings regarding this bill!

*Then call your Senator figure out what they're going to do to stop it.

Senate Democrats need to commit to holding up business in the Senate until there are public hearings for this bill and Republican Senators need to rethink their support of such an atrocious bill.

Senators in the following states especially need pressure from their constituents not to pass this bill: Alaska, West Virginia, Maine, Nevada, Arizona, Colorado, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Louisiana, Arkansas. Call your Senators in these states and tell them to vote against the new bill or you will vote them out of office. Toolkit to help in this effort here.

Another effort at repealing Obamacare narrowly failed last night, thanks to all of your work. Your signatures, calls, tweets and rallying are working and you should be proud of that. But we know that Republicans will not stop their efforts to take away health care from millions until Democrats run the legislature. It’s time to prepare to vote the folks trying to harm Americans out of office in 2018.
