The Ottumwa Police Department received a tip in late 2025 that two dogs at a local property were "severely neglected and extremely malnourished." And when they arrived at the home in question, that is exactly what they found.
Now, one dog is dead and another has permanent organ damage because two Iowa owners nearly starved them to death. And it's our job to make sure local authorities do something about it.
Sign now to tell Ottumwa authorities: justice for Delilah and Native! Ensure the perpetrators are banned from ever owning animals again and are given mandatory mental health counseling!
The remains of Delilah, a Brittany Spaniel, were found buried in the yard. The necropsy of Delilah's body was clear: she died because she was malnourished, and there was no remaining fat around her organs.
Against all odds, the other dog at the property, Native, survived. But Native – a beautiful German Shepherd – will never achieve a full recovery. Native was so malnourished that the poor animal has suffered permanent damage to its heart muscles.
If we want to ensure no other dogs are threatened with the same fate, we must put pressure on local authorities to give this couple a lifetime ban on animal ownership and mandatory mental health counseling. Justice for Delilah and Native! Sign the petition now if you agree!
