Many viruses originate from the wet markets and thousands of people have died.
COVID-19 or SARS-CoV-2 originated from bats that are being sold in wet markets around the world. Over a million people are infected and 58,000 people have died (as of April 2, 2020) of COVID-19. This is not the first pandemic but it is far more contagious than anything we had before.
There is no treatment or vaccine for COVID-19 and may take a year to develop one. There is COVID-19 now and we don't what new viruses might come in future from the wet markets. We must take steps to shutdown and/or better regulate Wet Market trade so that this never happens again.
