Justice for Parker: End STISD Transphobia

Parker Lee Nathaniel Garcia is a transgender student at the South Texas High School for Health Professions (Med High) who has faced relentless discrimination from peers and faculty.

While previously there was no issue with him using boys locker rooms, the vice superintendent later made it clear that he was to be prevented from doing this.

The administration and teachers refuse to recognize his name or gender, force him to change in the nurse's office instead of locker rooms, and has allowed bullying to go unaddressed to the point of inducing depression and desperation to switch schools.

This violates Title IX of the Education Amendments Act of 1972 and the Equal Protection Clause of the U.S. Constitution.

This is unacceptable for any school, but much less for one that prides itself as a medical academy while it refuses to acknowledge the already established and understood science that supports transgender people.

If LGBTQ students do not feel safe, supported, or heard at school, they can't perform to their fullest potential and will continue to face attacks toward their mental and social well being.

This petition is to gather support for Parker, push for trans inclusive action from the South Texas ISD, and to continue the fight for justice of all LGBTQ youth.
