Watch this Officer Almost Kill Someone with One Dangerous Move

As Thanksgiving Day came to an end, one man was simply thankful to have lived through it.

Bernard Kersh is not without blame, but on Thursday the 28th, he became the victim of a brutal attack by the Chicago Police Department. According to CPD, Kersh was stopped for drinking in public. When officers confronted him, he became verbally abusive and spat on one of them.

Usually, when an officer has to deal with an unruly suspect, they put a spit hood over the person's head to stop them from spitting or biting them and then continue to safely arrest them. But that isn't what happened here. No, this officer decided a much more aggressive tactic was due.

In a video that has since gone viral, the policeman picks Kersh up and bodyslams him on the pavement. Slamming him on the street alone would have been bad enough. But the officer threw him against the ground right where the road met the sidewalk. So while his body hit the black tarmac of the street, his head smacked against the curb.

He laid still against the pavement as if he were dead. It was only by pure luck that they didn't break his skull, and he is still alive today.

As Kersh thudded against the ground, his phone flew into the air, and while police occupied themselves with getting him into handcuffs, the video shows another bystander helping himself to his cellphone.

Kersh now faces various charges. But what about the policeman who nearly killed him? To date, he has only been given desk duty. But his lack of regard for Kersh's life and blatant misuse of force, as shown in the video, leads many to believe that he shouldn't have been on the force to begin with.

Is the officer just as eager to use lethal force in situations that don't call for it? That shouldn't be a question any Chicagoan has to ask.
