Workers Beat Baby Animals with Metal Bars and Left Them to Be Cannibalized

In the UK, new undercover footage shows factory farm workers brutally abusing animals - going so far as to kick and punch baby animals and beating them with metal bars, paddles, and boards.

Luckily, multiple UK grocery store chains have acted quickly and suspended their orders from this farm. Now all UK grocery stores must fall in line and ensure Somerby Top Farm is held accountable for these abusive practices! Sign the petition!

In the videos, not only do workers attack little piglets, but they also shove wounded and sick animals into crowded, unsanitary pens. In some cases, animals with gaping, open wounds were locked into feces-filled areas, leaving them vulnerable to severe infections. Some animals were visibly crying out or thrashing in pain, while others were too lame to stand or walk.

The farm's approach to handling lame piglets was apparently to shoot them. But sometimes, those executions were "botched," leaving the babies alive, screaming, and suffering for upwards of 30 seconds afterwards before finally dying.

But - even worse - sometimes workers left the animals to cannibalize each other instead. In one case, a piglet that was obviously in extreme distress from an open wound was left to slowly die in its crowded pen. Over a period of 33 hours, it was cannibalized and killed - eaten alive - by its fellow animals. Video seems to suggest that workers heard the pig's cries and ignored them.

Even worse, the undercover footage seems to suggest that animal welfare inspectors may have routinely turned a blind eye to obvious wounds, injuries, illness, and mistreatment.

The level of abuse here is shocking. But it's heartening to see some supermarket chains taking a strong stance and refusing to purchase more supplies from Somerby Top Farm. Now we need to make sure there's a full market boycott! Sign the petition to demand that all grocery store chains in the UK - including Aldi, Lidl, Waitrose, Marks & Spencers, and more - suspend their relationships with Somerby Top Farm!
