Protect NYC kids from menthol!

We're asking the NYC City Council to call a vote on Intro. 1345 (Cabrera) to protect kids and communities of color from Big Tobacco by restricting the sale of menthol cigarettes. This bill would finally close the loophole that has led to the addiction and untimely death of countless New Yorkers — primarily African-American New Yorkers.

For more than half a century, Big Tobacco has used menthol flavoring to successfully addict young people. More than half of all youth smokers ages 12-17 use menthol cigarettes, compared to less than one-third of smokers ages 35 and older. Menthol use is even higher among African American youth: 70% smoke menthol cigarettes.

Flavors including mint, menthol and wintergreen have helped fuel the popularity of cigarettes and led to lifetimes of addiction.

Send a message to city council now and urge them to protect NYC's kids!
As a NYC voter, I'm asking you to immediately call a vote on Intro. 1345 (Cabrera) to protect kids and communities of color from Big Tobacco by restricting the sale of menthol cigarettes. This bill would finally close the loophole that has led to the addiction and untimely death of countless New Yorkers — primarily African-American New Yorkers.

As you know, for more than half a century, Big Tobacco has used menthol flavoring to successfully addict young people.

Time is running out. Protect our children and communities of color. Bring Intro. 1345 to the floor for a vote. It's time to finally stand up to Big Tobacco and protect all of NYC's kids from flavored tobacco products!
