62,897 people were killed in two years, 1984 and 1985, from GUN related deaths. This is more than all of the people who died in the eight years of the Vietnam War! Why is the human life in the USA worth less than the animals of the Arctic or Africa, who are getting hundreds of thousands of signatures on petitions to save their habitats? Protect people from themselves! Stop this unnecessary slaughter by nationally securing, monitoring, and regulating the domestic use and "black market" sales of guns. Those who buy them to "protect" their families are finding themselves grieving by the graveside of their most precious family members! Let's spend dollars to curb, enforce, and secure the weaponry in North America. Only 14 of the 464 gun-related deaths during those two years involved self-defense. It is six times more likely that the household gun will be aimed at a friend or family member than at an intruder. 216 of the 464 deaths were suicides and nine of them took out a spouse, lover or relative first! 22 of those deaths were accidents, 8 more than those used for self-defense. 15 % of the deaths were under 21 yrs. of age. If we add Japan, Canada and Great Britain we would have the number of citizens in the USA- in those countries in 1985, 59 people died of gun-related causes. In the USA, 8,092 people died of gun-related deaths. Given our circumstances today, daily warfare in gangs, robberies, suicides, and sporadic killing "en mass" of innocent by-standers who happen to be in the wrong place at the wrong time make the securing of guns via scrupulous regulating tactics, minute record keeping and mental evaluations necessary as does the monitoring and enforcement to stop the smuggling of guns out of the country and into "tough gun law" states on a national level. The smuggling of guns is making it so individual states cannot uphold their own scrupulous gun laws because the state next to them have a "no questions asked" gun sales operation. The country has to say NO to guns and keep them out of the hands of the youth and the mentally deranged, or ex-convict. Making them more difficult to buy can help reduce the numbers of gun related injuries and deaths. Forcing gun owners to state surprise inspections to maintain the locked and secure nature of their arsenal is also an effective way to make sure these guns are not floating around the community, or being robbed by convicts/thieves. Sign the petition to say NO MORE UNNECESSARY deaths in the USA! Let's be a good neighbor to other countries who are also unable to defend their populations due to the arsenals their convicts are getting from the USA. We need to foster LOVE not KILLING!
National Security! What a farce when North Americans are causing more harm to each other than the wars we are involved in. National Security begins at home!
Congress knows how important Gun Control is: Gun Control Act of 1968, 10% Gun Manufacturer's Tax imposed by Congress to make guns more expensive to buy, Prohibition to mail Guns law in 1927, 1934 National Firearms Act, 1968 Gun Control Act.
We know that guns are taking down innocent people daily in North America. Our loose "Gun Control" is supplying arsenals to foreign drug gangs who fight their countries police and win, due to the semi-automatic guns so prevalent in North America. We have become very bad neighbors, and now those drug issues are spilling into our own country, as are the stock pile of gang related gun fire!
We only have ourselves and our negligence to blame for the violence in and around our country!
We have allowed big business, once again, to overshadow the values of our country.
In the 1970's the NRA went from being a club of gun enthusiasts to a Gun lobbying political force to be reckoned with, thanks to its younger membership, ideas contrary to those of the older more responsible members who enjoyed the club as collectors and marksmanship.
NRA became big business with enormous influence over Congress, something that is not going to stand up to it anytime soon. Perhaps when the country is standing on its last leg and has no more soldiers to recruit for foreign wars due to the toll on pre-soldiers in the domestic wars, fought out in the cities and suburbs of its states, it may actually try to do something to eliminate the
dangers of loose guns and states with "no questions asked" policies.
NRA's 2.8 million dues paying members can have the deaths in North America and the losing wars between Government and drug cartels in neighboring countries on their heads for supporting the ammunition and methods of national destruction, GUNS in all their lethal forms. Today, our own state governments can't defend their citizens from the outcropping of semi-automatics and cheap hand guns that abound the streets to kill.
When will we finally have their permission to live in a safe USA?
When will Congress finally say No to the NRA?
When "game is over"? This is not a TV show, nor video game, nor on-line war game. These are our streets and neighborhoods! We won't fall down dead and then seconds later get up again ready to play more cowboys and indians, or cops and gang members. This is your backyard, your daughter, your child's high school, your house robbery, your carjacking, your street mugging, your child's walk home, your spouse's home alone while you are away on a work-related trip, it is YOUR life!
When is enough enough?
If Charlton Heston, Gun Control rep and AD man, only knew the truth about Gun Control! That 14 of 464 gun related deaths were actually related to self-defense maybe he would not have done the commercisals the NRA paid him to do to advocate for their multi-million business of keeping guns flowing like water in our US of A. If he knew that 216 of the 464 gun related deaths were suicides, nine of whom took out family members first.
If he knew that 15% of those 464 gun-related deaths were under 21 yrs. of age, he may have decided against pushing guns. In two years, 1984 and 1985, 62,897 people were killed here in the USA from gun-related deaths. This is more than all the people who died in the eight yr. Vietnam War!
How can one state pass a law to create strict gun laws without having to create border patrols to enforce the smuggling of guns bought in easy gun sales states? How can each state monitor every border between states to garauntee their rights to control guns? Isn't it easier to control the country's ports of exit/entry (guns don't come in, they go out!)
Isn't it about time we take guns out of the hands of children, convicts who roam the streets when they should still be in jail for having raped and killed once before, deranged people who are killing "en mass" on the streets, and gang members who are probably young and deranged? Can't we have a fighting chance with hand to hand instead of instant death with a bullet?
For the sake of our own rights to walk down the streets, be in church without a homicidal killer with an axe to bury, be in the university studying, be in the high school trying to make the grade, be in the childcare trying to make it to adolescence at least, be in our daily ins and outs without violence, we want action taken towards the regulation, monitoring, record keeping and securing of GUNS in North America.
If you propose to regulate food, then regulate GUNS first. Statistically more people die from Guns than from food in the USA.
Do something before the USA is parceled out to neighboring countries due to a lack of USA, cause of anilation? self-destruction!
Thank you for your consideration! Don't wait until you have to be convinced, like Press Secretary James Brady!
Sincerely,
