Give Everyone a Chance for a Job

The Bay Area is an expensive place to live. Imagine if you did not finish high school, dropped out of college or have a history of incarceration or drug and alcohol misuse. These experiences create enormous hurdles to finding a job that pays a living wage. Employers may not wish to take a chance on such a person.

St. Anthony's seeks to create a society in which all persons flourish. One way we do that is to offer our guests job preparation and search skills, along with basic technology literacy training, to adults who experience such barriers to a paid job. Then we create transitional employment opportunities to build confidence, skills and emotional intelligence. We often go a step further by hiring those whom we have accompanied in their journey to stability and a brighter future. At any given time, nearly 25% of St. Anthony's employees are our former guests.

Our organizational values include a commitment to justice. That means being an advocate for all people, especially those who are disadvantaged, poor and outcast, by educating and empowering them to claim their rights in society. This includes supporting them in their journey to a more stable life and brighter future through job training and transitional employment.

Do you believe in social justice for all, including eliminating barriers to living wage employment? If so, sign the pledge now, and let us know that you support job opportunities for everyone.
