Speak out against horse slaughter. Support the SAFE Act!

Each year, tens of thousands of horses are transported across the U.S. borders to be slaughter for meat.

These horses, donkeys and mules come from all types of backgrounds — working animals, companion horses and even children's ponies. Their suffering begins long before they arrive at the slaughter house. Stuffed into cramped trailers, they're inhumanely transported long distances across our borders without food, water or rest.

They are then brutally killed, and their meat is shipped overseas. Sadly, most of these horses are young, healthy animals who could have led productive lives with loving owners. Help end this horrific industry.

Sign the petition and show your support for the SAFE Act (H.R. 961/ S. 2006) to help end horses being slaughtered for meat.
Subject: Please co-sponsor and push for the passage of the SAFE Act

Dear Legislator,

Please co-sponsor the Safeguard American Food Exports (SAFE) Act, H.R. 961/S.2006, and do all that you can to push for the passage of this important bill. I am against the cruel slaughter of American horses, and I am concerned that horsemeat is tainted and unsafe for human consumption.

Horse slaughter is unnecessary and cruel. Furthermore, horses in the U.S. are not raised for food, and over the course of their lives, they are given a wide variety of drugs and veterinary treatments that make their meat unfit for human consumption.

[Your Comment]

I urge you to completely ban domestic horse slaughter and end the export of horses abroad for slaughter.

Thank you for your consideration.
