Now that Justice Anthony Kennedy has officially retired from the Court, the threat to our affordable health care is greater than ever. We know that Donald Trump will do everything in his power to destroy the Affordable Care Act, which is why he has appointed another extreme, far-right justice, Brett Kavanaugh, to the Court. Kavanaugh's vote on the Court could eliminate millions of Americans' access to health care, cause insurance premiums to skyrocket, and threaten the stability of the health care system that so many families rely on.
Trump hasn't been able to repeal the ACA through Congress, so we know he's going to try to use the Supreme Court to do so by appointing justices who will attack our access to necessary and life-saving care. Trump's Department of Justice has already refused to defend protections for Americans with pre-existing conditions -- and they're not stopping there.
The Supreme Court should protect all Americans -- and we can't allow Trump to stack the Court with justices who will attack our health care. We must do everything we can to hold our elected officials accountable and show how important access to quality, affordable health care is for the lives of millions of Americans.
