Justice For Transgender Woman Wrongfully Tased By Police

When police stopped Brooke Fantelli in the Imperial County, California desert, they treated her with respect until they found out she's transgender. Then, they went from calling Fantelli "ma'am" and "miss" to "sir" and "dude," to calling her "it," and to brutally and wrongfully arresting her.

Fantelli was calmly cooperating with the officers when suddenly, they unnecessarily tased her in the pelvis. This caused her to collapse to the ground, shouting in pain.

When she protested as police pushed her handcuffed to the dirt ground, the officer threatened to tase her again.

Police stopped Fantelli for public intoxication. According to a blood test, no alcohol was found in her system. Fantelli did not resist arrest, but that didn't stop officers from calling Imperial County deputies, bringing in four giant police trucks to patrol one abiding citizen.

Tell the Imperial County Sheriff Department to immediately investigate Brooke Fantelli's brutal and discriminatory arrest!
Dear Imperial County Sheriff Department,

Do not let the officers who confronted Brooke Fantelli under the ridiculous suspicion of public intoxication get away with their blatant brutality and discrimination. Please investigate the incident and ensure that all officers are willing to treat every citizen with respect, regardless of age, race, and gender.

There was absolutely no need to tase Brooke Fantelli in the crotch, or to pin her to the ground, or to call deputies for backup! The arrest went completely overboard, as Fantelli was peaceful, cooperative, and doing nothing wrong.

Your comments added here.

The officers only started abusing Fantelli when they saw her I.D. and discovered she's transgender. Calling her "it" and then tasing her in her crotch is an unambiguous and disgusting instance of discrimination.

Make sure Brooke Fantelli's arrest is investigated and that she sees justice regarding her wrongful and brutal arrest.

Sincerely
