Tell Liz Truss to prioritise peace in Yemen and stop the suffering

  • by: Mercy Corps
  • recipient: Foreign Secretary Liz Truss

After five long years, Yemen remains the world's largest humanitarian crisis. Over 80% of the population — 24 million women, men and children — are in need of humanitarian assistance. The impacts of COVID-19, widespread economic collapse, and ongoing fighting and restrictions by warring parties are pushing countless more families towards the brink of famine.

A political solution is the only way to end the suffering. The UK Government is in a strong position to help put an end to the manmade humanitarian crisis and should use all means possible to press parties to stop fighting. As the UK Government redefines itself on the global stage, it is essential to reaffirm our commitment to ending this brutal and needless conflict.

Sign now to tell Foreign Secretary, Liz Truss, to prioritise the people of Yemen and increase pressure on the warring parties to lift restrictions, put their weapons down and meaningfully engage in the United Nations-led peace process.
