Disciplinary Action Against CBP Agents Adrian Perallon and Valerie Baird Who Caused the Death of a 16-Year Old Boy

Adrian Perallon and Valerie Baird are two CBP agents, who in 2013 suspected a 16-year old Mexican high school student, Cruz Velazquez, to be hiding liquid methamphetamine disguised as apple juice. They told the boy to drink it, with great suspicion it was not apple juice. As he drank it, both officers began to laugh amongst themselves. Two hours later Cruz died after having a heart rate over 220 BPM and a fever of 105 degrees.

Another CBP Officer testified under oath that she heard Valerie Baird saying "Oh my gosh, I asked him to drink it". Valeria Baird said under oath that she does not believe she said that. Adrian Perallon and Valerie Baird should be reprimanded for their misconduct and failure to follow protocol by asking someone to ingested suspected drugs. They are still working to this day. Hopefully with enough support, something will be done.
