A young father looks back to his wife as she carries her youngest, writhing in tears, in her arms. She encourages the family to walk on, but they've taken thousands of steps already today and each step is more difficult than the last. Still, they must keep walking to survive.

This is the story of the nearly 700,000 refugees who have fled Myanmar since August to escape horrific violence and protect their families. These refugees -- nearly all women and children -- are living in awful conditions. The crowded, makeshift camps that provide temporary shelter are exposed to landslides and flooding from the heavy annual monsoon rains that are coming on right now.

Women and girls are the most vulnerable. With a very rare exception, every single woman we spoke with had witnessed or experienced violence.

CARE is providing relief for these vulnerable families, reaching more than 192,000 people with food, water, shelter, health, hygiene and nutrition services. We are aiding very young children with severe malnutrition and supporting women who have endured sexual violence, including rape and trafficking.

This horrible crisis is going largely unnoticed. Myanmar refugees need your voice to help bring attention to this humanitarian disaster. As a global community, we need to act now to save lives.
