A Violent Power Struggle in Sudan is Causing a Horrific Humanitarian Crisis for Families Who Just Want Peace and Safety

Violent conflict in Sudan is escalating as "the country's army and a paramilitary group called the Rapid Support Forces" fight over control over the nation. Experts are worried the country could end up in a blood soaked civil war. This tragic violence threatens the lives of millions of Sudanese civilians who simply want peace and safety.

One key way to help keep civilians safe and curb the violence is preventing weapons transfers into Sudan. The conflict cannot continue if there is no way for these parties to enact their mass violence!

Sign now to tell the UN Security Council: continue the arms embargo in Sudan until civilians are out of harm's way!

This selfish struggle between two power-hungry groups is causing mass death and suffering already, and it has only been a few weeks (as of the time of this writing, May 5, 2023).

Thousands of helpless victims are fleeing the country. People who stay are forced to shelter from the violence inside their homes, rarely leaving for food and other supplies because it's so risky. Even still, homes are being damaged and destroyed. The majority of Sudanese hospitals have stopped functioning. Morgues are filling up rapidly. There are food, fuel, and medicine shortages. People are suffering.

The politics that lead to conflicts like this one are complex, but the consequences are simple: civilians starve, suffer mentally and physically, and often die. Amnesty International has put it best: "Keep guns out of the country."

We must urge the UN Security Council to continue the arms embargo until civilians in Sudan are safe!
