Support Pharmacare in Canada: Help Make Universal Access to Prescription Drugs a Reality

Every industrialized country with a public health care system provides access to prescription drugs, except Canada.

Sadly, this means that every year, over 3 million Canadians can't afford the drugs their doctors prescribe, including critical medicines such as asthma inhalers, antibiotics, anticoagulants — even insulin!

But this is a reality we can change! With federal leadership, we can bring prescription drug coverage under the umbrella of Medicare — and we can do so efficiently and cost-effectively.

The latest research shows that a Pharmacare program could actually save Canadians $2.8 billion annually, curtailing overcharging practices and investing that money in health care services.

But none of this is possible without strong support from the federal government. Prime Minister Harper has largely abandoned health care, leaving the provinces and territories to fend for themselves — this is unacceptable. Despite a decade-long federal promise to pursue a plan, there has been no action on Pharmacare.

We can change this. Let's work together to make Pharmacare a reality.

Take action today to let Prime Minister Harper know that improving Canada's health care is essential to the country's overall health.
