Cut The Health- And Climate-Damaging Pollutants From Big Rigs and Buses

If you've ever been stuck in traffic behind a tractor-trailer, you've likely seen — and smelled — the noxious fumes and emissions. And if you're one of the millions of Americans who live by a major roadway, you may have suffered health issues related to that pollution.

Semi-trucks and buses create 25 percent of the polluting emissions from our nation's transportation sector, despite making up only 5 percent of the vehicles on our roads. Yet emission standards for these vehicles have not been updated in over 10 years!

Plus, the harmful health impacts of these vehicles fall disproportionately on communities of color that are often located near heavy-duty traffic and trucking corridors.

It's time we have strong rules that reduce health- and climate-damaging pollutants from Big Rigs and buses. Sign our petition to the EPA that we want the cleanest trucks and buses possible.
I urge the EPA to set the strongest standards possible to reduce greenhouse gas and nitrogen oxides emissions from medium- and heavy-duty trucks manufactured in 2027 and beyond. These vehicles cause the majority of lung-damaging air pollutants, and disproportionately impact vulnerable communities located near trucking corridors. It has been more than 10 years since these standards were updated, and we need the strongest rules possible to protect our health, air, and climate.
