Tell the Department of Health and Human Services to Repeal the Title X Gag Rule

In 2019, the previous administration forced major changes to Title X, the only federal program dedicated to providing affordable birth control, lifesaving preventive screenings, STI testing and treatment, and other sexual and reproductive health care to people with low incomes.

The Title X gag rule forced community health care providers like Planned Parenthood health centers out of Title X and effectively stripped access to essential health care services from hundreds of thousands of people. People in rural areas, and Black, Latino, AAPI, and Indigenous communities who already face systemic barriers to health care have been especially impacted by the gag rule.

But right now, we have an opportunity to roll back the gag rule and ensure that everyone has access to reproductive care — no matter how much money they make, what they look like, or where they live.

This is our chance to make our voices heard: Today you can make a direct impact by telling the federal government to repeal the Title X gag rule

Dear Health & Human Services,

From STI tests to cancer screenings, from wellness exams to birth control, sexual and reproductive health care is essential health care.

And no one should be denied it just because of how much money they make, what they look like, or where they live.

The Title X program has helped low-income and uninsured families access sexual and reproductive health care for decades. The previous administration's gag rule not only pushed health centers out of the Title X program and stopped providers from having honest and open conversations with patients, but it also slashed the Title X network's capacity in half and pushed essential health care out of reach.

The gag rule stopped providers from being able to talk to their patients about their full range of options and reduced the Title X network's capacity to deliver contraceptive care by roughly 1.6 million patients. For many patients, Title X sites are the sole point of access to these services.

I stand in strong support of repealing the Title X gag rule so that EVERYONE has access to the sexual and reproductive health care they need.

Repealing the gag rule can't wait.
