Bassendean is a small community. It signed a local petition with 521 names to keep our historic War Memorial where it is. A special meeting and a public meeting supported restoration, not removal.
But the Town's management is deaf and wants to spend almost a $1 million of limited rates income, because of some secret agenda. Yes, less than $200,000 could restore the War Memorial, leaving the balance for more worthwhile community initiatives, like installing footpaths for people in wheel chairs and improving security with better street lighting.
