Pepsi: Stop Adding Potential Carcinogens to Your Soda!

A new report from Consumer Reports revealed that an artificial coloring compound (4-MEI) in Pepsi could lead to 5,000 cancer cases each year. When Coke learned about the health risks, they reduced the chemical's presence - but Pepsi has failed to do so. Please sign this petition to demand that Pepsi Co. remove completely unnecessary carcinogens from its recipe!

California state has added 4-MEI to its list of possible carcinogens and passed a law saying people should not consume more than 29 mg of the compound per day - but testing by Consumer Reports found Pepsi products in California containing 43mg in just one 12 oz serving, and sodas in New York contained 161 mg.

This is especially concerning because a huge number of Americans drink at least twice that amount of soda every single day.

4-MEI doesn't do anything to flavor Pepsi - it's just a component of the artificial coloring. Pepsi should immediately stop exposing consumers to this avoidable and unnecessary risk just for the sake of making its drinks brown.

The Food and Drug Administration says it's currently testing sodas for levels of 4-MEI to consider what should be done. But that research could take months. If Coke can reduce 4-MEI usage, so can Pepsi. Sign this petition to demand that Pepsi stop endangering the lives of its customers.
