The industrialization of global agriculture has resulted in calamities too numerous to list here, citizens have lost control over the safety of their food, their health and their land.
Dear Dr. Chan, Prime Minister Harper,President Obama and Minister of Agriculture Ritz and Secretary of Agriculture Vilsack,
We, the signatories of this petition ask that the presence of Genetically Modified Organisms be listed openly and clearly on all food, produce and feed consumed in Canada and the United States of America.
The governments of Canada and the United States of America are the last two nations on the planet to participate in some part to identify GMO ingredients.
President Obama and Prime Minister Harper seem unable or unwilling to oppose multinational chemical conglomerate's practises that pollute our land and compromise our health, because they will not demand that these corporations declare the contents of stock feed, pesticides, produce and prepared foods
That leaves only one avenue of recourse, consumer awareness and informed choice.
Complete disclosure of ingredients on all food, cosmetic and product labeling, with strict testing and enforcement by government agencies, independent of lobbyists or other pressures, should be mandatory.
Why should Canadians and Americans be the last to know what they eat, feed their children or grow in their gardens?
Please, in the interest of the health and productivity of your citizens, list GMO on the lables!
