Support one to one midwifery care for the women of Bradford and Airedale

The evidence base for one to one midwifery is clear. Women who have the same midwife to support them throughout their pregnancy, birth and postnatally have better clinical, emotional and social outcomes. 

We therefore welcome One to One midwifery Northwest Ltd coming into this area to offer one to one caseloading midwifery care to the women and families of Yorkshire. They are able to do this at the standard NHS cost for maternity care. In the light of the overwhelming evidence of the health benefits of one to one midwifery care we are pleased that women are able to make this healthy choice on the NHS,especially given the likely demise of the choice of independent midwifery care in October.  We call upon the CCG Maternity Commissioners to practice evidence-based commissioning and support ALL providers delivering one to one midwifery care in this district. This includes midwifery-led companies such as One to One Midwifery and Neighbourhood Midwives.
