The Marian Vian Primary School swimming pool is a vital part our our children's education, fitness, and well being. Learning to swim is a vital life saving skill, one that all children should have the opportunity to learn.
Following a recent health and safety review the school plan to close the pool indefinitely from Christmas. On speaking to the company Swim Stars who use the pool for after school swimming lessons, the report highlighted some more aesthetic problems with the environment around the pool, rather than the pool itself. it's suggested that the work could be carried out during a holiday period, or over a short period of time. The PTA raise a large amount of money for the school so surely some of this can be used to invest in the swimming pool.
The pool is used for swimming lessons as part of the curriculum, and and also for lessons after school, in which Marian Vian children get priority. With the closure of the pool our children will be the one's to suffer, not to mention the business Swim Stars who are a key part of our local community.
