It's here: the healthy, Earth-friendly, compassionate alternative to meat. And it's mushrooms. Multiple companies have "sprouted" up over the past few years to utilize the unique qualities of different mushrooms, and turn them into meat-based alternatives.
Now,
mushroom-based meat is even poised to turn cruel factory farming on its head with huge plant-based 'Ranches.'
Sign the petition to demand government funding for these mushroom-based "meat" initiatives!Steaks, bacon, cutlets, carne asada: proponents say these various mushrooms can do it all. Well, almost everything.
What mushroom ranches don't do? They don't shove living, breathing beings into small boxes, rip them away from family, stuff them full of dubious-quality food sources, deprive them of natural sunlight and wind, then butcher them just to satisfy human taste buds.
Factory farms are harmful to not only animal rights, but also to the environment and human health. They can become the breeding ground for diseases and treatment-resistant bacteria, and also suck up huge amounts of increasingly-scarce water resources.
On top of that,
animal agriculture is one of the largest contributors to greenhouse gas emissions and climate change!By contrast,
mushrooms suck carbon out of the atmosphere, pulling it into the soil. They tackle toxins, breaking them down into something usable again. They increase soil health, and actively fight human-induced climate chaos.
That's why it's so exciting to see companies like mycelium-based Meati opening massive cow-less operations at their Mega Ranch and Giga Ranch.
Mushrooms are good for the Earth, animal welfare, and human health. Private companies are increasing their research and development operations, but they shouldn't have to rely on venture capitalists alone to fund their work.
The U.S. government must invest in mushroom "meat" ranches! This is the future of farming, and we should celebrate it! Sign the petition if you agree.
