How can 49 million people face hunger in a country that wastes billions of pounds of food? Here in America, there is more than enough food to feed every man, woman and child, yet one in six people, including more than one in five children, face hunger.

The Feeding America nationwide network of food banks provides more than 3 billion meals to people in need each year, but there is more work to do. Even as the largest charitable food distribution system in the U.S., Feeding America currently captures less than 1 percent of wasted food.
