Tell Congress: Save Lives and Support Funding for Global COVID-19 Relief

The COVID-19 global pandemic presents one of the greatest challenges of our time. CARE is fighting alongside the most vulnerable and marginalized people, including women and girls, to be heard and get the resources they need to stay safe.

Congress and the Administration have a critical role to play in ensuring that the most vulnerable communities worldwide have access to clean water and soap, hygiene education, and medical supplies.

Take action and tell your elected officials to support no less than $20 billion for global COVID-19 response and to put women and girls at the center of response efforts to ensure their unique needs are met and voices are included.
I am joining CARE Action advocates in calling on you to ensure that the U.S. government's response to the COVID-19 pandemic includes additional funding for prevention and response in the poorest and most vulnerable communities around the world. Please ensure that the next legislative package to respond to COVID-19 includes no less than $20 billion for the international response, including flexible funding for global health and nutrition, humanitarian assistance and economic relief. This pandemic is a global challenge, and our response must include efforts to safeguard vulnerable populations around the world.

I am grateful that Congress has included resources to support poor and working people here and address COVID-19 overseas in its initial response to the pandemic, and I urge you to continue to support robust, needs-based funding and operational flexibility for USAID and the State Department so partner organizations can better meet the challenges of this global crisis.

Congress and the Administration also have a critical role to play in ensuring that this support can reach those who are most vulnerable in crises- including women and girls, regardless of their location. To this end, I'm asking for your support to use all diplomatic efforts to ensure unhindered access to healthcare, medical supplies, and other vital aid and protection and compliance with international humanitarian and human rights legal obligations to ensure that no one is left behind.

This health crisis knows no borders and helping vulnerable communities around the world effectively prepare and respond to COVID-19 must remain a top priority. Thank you for your leadership at this critical time.

Thank you,
